Where does domain age come from in WHOIS?

The ‘Creation Date’ field in WHOIS / RDAP responses — set by the registry when the domain was first registered. It survives ownership changes, DNS changes, and reseller migrations. It only resets if the domain is allowed to expire fully (past redemption grace) and someone else registers it fresh.
