Q & A Email Authentication · August 12, 2026

What is a bounce rate and what's acceptable?

Bounce rate is the percentage of emails that couldn’t be delivered. Hard bounces (permanent failures — invalid addresses, domain doesn’t exist) should be removed immediately. Soft bounces (temporary — mailbox full, server unavailable) should be suppressed after 3-5 consecutive failures. Google flags senders with hard bounce rates above 2%. Above 5% risks suspension from some email service providers.
